these lights? The top few are Triplex Lamps. I didn’t know much about Triplex Lamps until I started researching for this blog, but it’s such a great story, so I’ll share a little bit of the backstory. (I promise it will be quick!) Triplex lights were created in the early 1900′s by Johan Petter Johansson. When they were first designed, the monkey wrench and universal screw spanner was a new idea, so the Triplex quickly became wildly popular. Over the past decade or two, Vintage Triplex lamps have developed quite a cult following, but it was designer, Robert Kullenberg, who recognized that a modernized Triplex lamp, that still respected the heritage of the lamp, could be a huge success once more. Now, the Triplex Lamp is the star of glossy magazine editorials around the world. Thus, the heritage brand, Triplex, reborn! (good story, huh) The second to last light is by Lindsey Adelman. She make beautiful custom light fixtures that perfectly balance the line of modern/industrial/feminine design. She even gives a tutorial on how you can DIY on of her creations yourself! Isn’t that amazing?! Yeps, so awesome. So now, I’m literally finding myself thinking about these lights all the time – mostly because in my home, I have a living room that is split into two distinct spaces – and it would be so nice to have a light like this mounted in the center – because of it’s angular nature – it would still ‘talk’ to both spaces. just thought I’d share! |
